Welcome to Design & Technology!
In D.T. lessons children use their creativity and imagination to work on a range of design and making activities. They investigate and evaluate products in order to think about what they are used for and the needs of those who use them. Pupils then generate, develop and plan ideas, together with design criteria to set out what they wish to achieve.
Focused practical tasks are carried out in which children select from and use a range of tools and materials and develop their skills to perform practical tasks. They evaluate their ideas and products against their own design criteria.
In line with the National Curriculum programmes of study, the activities enable children to use a range of materials including electrical and mechanical components, construction materials and textiles.
Children also learn about cooking and nutrition; they prepare and cook a variety of predominantly savoury dishes, following principles of a healthy and varied diet.
