What a fantastic week the children have had, working on the project ‘Stories from Around the World’, to promote language learning! My head is still full of stimulating tales, which I expect will linger for quite a while. Spanish, Portuguese, Croatian, Japanese, Polish, Korean, Norwegian, Arabic, Italian, Iranian, Latvian, Chinese, Malayalam and many other languages could be heard in the classrooms this week.
The children were very curious about the languages some children speak at home, and talked about similarities and differences in languages. It was wonderful to observe the children teaching each other how to count in a different language; they also had a go at sign language. I would like to congratulate the children for taking part in this project and I passionately feel that this special week has inspired them to learn more about other languages and cultures.
